Player Profile: Patrick ‘Pato’ Oriana
Patrick, who’s well known as the cool-headed two-way middie ‘Pato’ is a 24 yr old native of the Soroti District in Eastern Uganda. He recently graduated with a degree in Business Administration and is pursuing a more advanced degree in banking.
The captain of Oneonta, Pato took an underdog team to the championship last year, and completed a stellar regular season in the road to winning the regular-season title. When asked about his role models, he was quick to cite his mom, who’s been “superwoman, through thick and thin.” Pato also has a host of lacrosse role models, including, “Paul Rabil for all his hard work, John Christmas for his quick feet and Kyle Harrison for his eye for the goal and crazy left hand shot off the split dodge.”
A clear lacrosse enthusiast, Pato says he watches guys like Rabil and Harrison all the time on the internet. As for his future goals, Pato aims to create a mentorship program to help bridge the gap with younger Ugandans – recognizing the shortage of mentors in the area. He also wants to build a fitness center in his hometown, spread the game of lacrosse, enjoy a successful banking career and one day be a father of a wonderful family.
